About Dr. David K. Stabnow
  • David K. Stabnow was born and raised in Battle Lake, Minnesota, where he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at the age of 12. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Minnesota in Morris, after which he programmed computers for five years. Dave then felt called to the professional ministry, so he pursued a Master of Divinity at Bethel Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Hermeneutics: Old Testament at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. His dissertation is entitled A Discourse Analysis Perspective on the Syntax of Clauses Negated by LO' in the Primary History.

While at Bethel Seminary, Dave and his wife Bonnie spent a year at Cameroon Baptist Theological Seminary, where Bonnie taught English and Dave taught Hebrew and other Bible and theology classes.

Since April, 2000 Dave has been working at B&H Publishing Group. He was one of the editors for the Holman Christian Standard Bible, producing second or third drafts of many Old Testament books and overseeing the consistency aspect of the translation.

Since the publication of the translation he has been working on study Bibles and concordance products. He also contributed notes for the book of Jeremiah for the Apologetics Study Bible and notes for the book of Proverbs for the Holman Study Bible. Dave has also contributed articles to The Everyday Study Bible (Word, 1996), Dictionary of Biblical Imagery (InterVarsity, 1998), and Holman Illustrated Bible Dictionary (B&H, 2003).

Dave and his wife, Bonnie, live in Nashville, Tennessee.  They attend ClearView Baptist Church, where Dave teaches adult Bible study.
